Introduction

Richard Waller III is a Grammy winning, multi-platinum recording, mixing and mastering engineer from Philadelphia PA. He has more than 25 years of experience in the music business as a Musician (Drummer), Recording/Mixing/Mastering Engineer, Record Producer, Composer, Educator, and Label Executive. Mr. Waller has worked with The Roots, Gerald Veasley, David P. Stevens, Judah Priest, John Legend, Whitney Peyton, Supreem Da Rezarekta', Philip Bailey, The Ebonys and Grover Washington Jr.

In the Early 90’s he was the Vice-President of an independent label specializing in R&B and Hip Hop. For two years as the label’s VP, he developed expertise in many aspects of the Music Industry including: A&R, artist development, production, marketing, sales and distribution. In 1995 Richard was the Head Engineer at Swing City Recording Studios. In 1996 he worked as a freelance Recording/Mixing Engineer at Studio Crash Recording Studios, where he continues to do sessions when available. In 2009 Richard partnered with world renowned Bassist Gerald Veasley to form Fanwave Media a new music media company/label, where he served as President and Chief Operations Officer until 2017. Richard has taught audio engineering as an adjunct professor at New Jersey’s Camden County Community College from 2006-2009. He’s done numerous workshops/clinics for the Philadelphia Recording Community (PRC), Gerald Veasley’s Bass Boot Camp and The Audio Engineering Society (AES).

Currently, Richard owns and operates his production company (The Walcom Music Group,LLC) and his private studio facility (Smackhouse Studios). Richard is also the President of a newly formed Music Media/Consulting company, The Walcom Media Firm and his new label, Grape Groove Recordings. Richard is also the Pro-Audio Application Specialist for Essential Sound Products and a Product Specialist for Accusound Cable Company. He’s also a BMI Songwriter and Publisher and a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc. (The Grammys) where he currently serves on the Philadelphia Chapter’s Producers and Engineers board (The P&E Wing).
