Warm Audio Gear Used:

Of the many 1176-type compressors available today, the Warm Audio WA76 is true to it’s name, and is the warmest sounding one I’ve used. It will control the sound like a classic compressor, and provide a rich, full tone. The WA76 is definitely a ‘go-to’ piece of gear for me.

Introduction

Dave O'Donnell is a GRAMMY winning Producer, Mixer, and Engineer who has earned respect and admiration throughout the music industry for his studio work with such luminaries as James Taylor, Keith Richards, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Keb’ Mo’, Lyle Lovett, Milton Nascimento, and Ray Charles. Dave began his career at the world-renowned Power Station, now known as Avatar Studios, gaining a unique musical foundation working in a wide range of genres, and the skill, experience and dedication he brings to every project has led to ongoing relationships with many of the artists he works with. Most recently, Dave produced, recorded and mixed James Taylor’s latest release Before This World, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart, was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards, and won the TEC Award for Outstanding Record Production/Album. He also engineered and mixed Keith Richards’ critically acclaimed album Crosseyed Heart.

Some of Dave’s other accolades include a Best Jazz Vocal Album GRAMMY Award for Kurt Elling’s Dedicated To You, three GRAMMY nominations in the Best Engineered Album category—for James Taylor’s Before This World, Aaron Neville’s Nature Boy and Deborah Cox's Destination Moon—and a GRAMMY Album of the Year nomination for John Mayer's Continuum. He’s also accrued five TEC Awards, and for mixing The Kennedy Center Honors and the 2009 Official Inaugural Celebration, received two Emmy nominations.

Dave believes in giving back to the industry and has served on both The Recording Academy’s New York Chapter Board and the SAE Institute’s New York Advisory Committee, and has also participated on numerous industry panels.
